Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus and the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, has officially addressed a recent misunderstanding involving Attorney General Hon. Dr. Dominic Ayine. In a detailed statement, the outspoken MP clarified that he has never accused Dr. Ayine of corruption or theft, distancing himself from a fake Twitter (X) account that falsely made such claims in his name.
According to A-Plus, the impersonation account—despite carrying his name, image, and even a verification badge—does not belong to him. He emphasized that the post in question, which accused the Attorney General of corruption, originated from that fake account, not from him personally.
“I have never—at any point—accused the Hon. Attorney General, Dr. Ayine, of being corrupt or a thief,” he stressed. “That claim is false and misleading.”
The MP went on to explain that his actual remarks about the recent sanitation levy can be found on his verified Facebook page, which he encouraged the public to consult for accurate information.
Addressing another matter raised by Dr. Ayine during a recent press conference—an alleged scandal involving the National Service Secretariat (NSS)—A-Plus firmly denied any involvement or knowledge of the issue. He clarified that his only connection to the matter came in November 2024, when he was approached by a gentleman claiming to be falsely accused. As a media personality and business owner, he assisted the man in gaining public exposure to defend himself, but said this support should not be misconstrued as interference.
In a show of accountability, A-Plus also acknowledged that his own Facebook response to Dr. Ayine’s press conference remarks may have crossed a line in tone and content. “Upon reflection, I acknowledge that the tone and choice of words I used were inappropriate,” he said. “I sincerely apologize to Hon. Dr. Ayine, the general public, the NDC party, and Parliament, and fully retract those words.”
He revealed that, as a sign of remorse and respect, he has since deleted the post.
Reaffirming his commitment to the fight against corruption, A-Plus stated, “It is imperative that we all engage in this effort with integrity, fairness, and mutual respect.”
The Gomoa Central MP ended his statement by calling for unity among public servants and encouraged a collective focus on national development and the welfare of Ghanaians.
